I have long wanted an Oppo machine. In the audio world I have heard nothing but excellent reviews over the last couple of years. I already had a Pioneer DVD/Universal player and an excellent Rotel CD player. I was looking for BluRay and this was the logical choice to replace the Pioneer. Man am I pleased. Especially with the playback of Super Audio CD's. The sound through my Yamaha RX-V1900 receiver over HDMI is just excellent. I was looking to get away from the old analog connections I had to use with my Pioneer player for SACDs. The sound wasn't bad but this is better and way less hassle. Also, picture quality on DVDs is excellent. I haven't even tried BluRay yet.
Submited By: Luc Pomerleau on 12/28/2009 The speed and efficiency of your service always surprises me. I ordered this on December 23, expecting to have it delivered between Christmas and New Year's, but I got it the very next day!
This gave me the opportunity to play around with it during Christmas weekend. I haven't finished tweaking it, but I can already report it is a great player, combining sturdiness, high performance and an elegant design. Their attention to detail is omnipresent as usual. Even the power cord and HDMI cable are of very good quality. And the remote is nicely laid out, in a way that avoids accidentally pressing the wrong button as on many overcrowded models.
All in all, another true winner from Oppo. And again, I am very appreciative of your fast service.

But when I started to play with this model, I've been very impressed by the the speed and the quality of the video and audio. Very User Friendly. I like also the fact that I can Play WMV and MPEG from USB Key. Very good. I recommend it at 100%

Best value hands down. The video is second to none and trying to compare side by side with a competitive brand will show you that. Yes Blu-Ray should look vibrant and it does its just that the OPPO does it better. I have over 600DVD Movies and upconversion was also a factor. I have never seen a better upconverting player than this one. I have seen my share of Blu-Ray players and ones that carry a price tag of 4 and 5 times what you will pay for OPPO BDP-83. The OPPO does Audio and Video brilliantly. I have had this player hooked up to my Denon 989 receiver for audio and Samsung 50" Plasma and also feeding my Hitachi HD Home theater Projector and I cannot say enough. Fit and finish is also top notch and one that you would expect from a reference series piece. Buy this with confidence and you will feel good from the minute you open up the box and for years to come.
I among others put OPPO on top of my audio/video list of manufactures such as DENON, MARANTZ and ONKYO.
