I'm very happy with this player. I have many DivX and Xvid files and it does an amazing job of displaying them on my new 32" Sony LCD HDTV. (My cables cost a lot more than this player)

I've played about two hundred hours of Divx, Xvid and DVD-Video.

Aside from the tray that people complain about (it's not an issue unless you break it), my DVD player has a hard time starting to play my DVD+R's. It will spin around for a long time and sometimes finally quit. I have to eject the disc with the remote and then it starts no problem. It's fine until I turn the power off again. It works fine with store-bought DVD-Videos.

The disc does make a little more noise than a more expensive model, but I don't hear it once the sound starts.

You don't necessarily need to know the code to program the DVD into other remote controls. I think it is listed as a Goldstar code. My other remote didn't need the code, I just started a procedure then pressed a button once the DVD turned off and it locked in the code.
I like the remote very much. I use it for the DVD player, my Sony HDTV's volume and cycling through the video inputs. (I thought about getting a Harmony Universal remote but I just can't justify that much money.)

I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a DivX/Xvid collection.

WOW!, what a player. I'm trying to find something it won't play. no luck so far :-)

I'm also really impressed with the on screen file browser. probably the best so far (and nice GUI too). I've slapped mp3s, wmas, jpegs, avis and mpegs on the same DVD-RW and there I was, all files displayed on the screen, browsing, listening to music, watching pictures and movies. WOW! I'm VERY happy with this player so far.

Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic DVD player. Picture and audio quality are amazing thanks to the high end video and audio DAC's onboard. DivX & XviD playback work great, though because of the MTK1389 chipset this machine does suffer from the packed bitstream issue for XviD files. The remote is about as good you're likely to find with a machine at this or any price and the OSD is eye & user friendly. Making the player region-free via the hack mentioned on this site was as easy as can be and PAL-_NTSC conversion/playback is perfect! Player also doesn't seem to suffer from any sort of RCE hangups when set to Region 0. The one and only downfall of this machine is the weak looking DVD tray, its looks like it could crack or break with very little pressure so I'll be sure to be careful. Other than that this player is absolutely top rate in every way, but what else can you expect from LG! Don't miss out on this machine get one today and grab an extra just in case of an emergency if you can afford it.
