Hi, I simply thought it would be helpful for those who are actually interested in this particular High Definition Network Media Player to hear from a user.

To provide some background, I have been a big movie buff for since VHS, had hundreds of these tapes years ago. Once DVDs became available, I began collecting DVDs, have had approximately a thousand at one time, give or take a hundred or two. I still have a huge collection of DVD, which I use to keep many of them in a couple of SONY 200 & 400 DVD changers. This setup was nice for single view capabilities, but painfully slow then trying to find a particular movie. The problem was that these DVD changers were expensive had limitations; (I could only control 3 (400 changers) within one view area); painfully slow; and plus at the time they cost $899 each. With these devices, you were restricted to content contained in the device itself. I simply had more content than these devices could easily organize, plus I was limited to one viewing area.

With the introduction of Network Media Players, I decided to research to find the best one that would allow me to do the following:
Access remote content that could be shared between multiple players and retrieve/playback content independently.

After months of research, I decided on the TViX boxes which address all of my requirements and then some.....
A few years ago I acquired my first TViX the M-5000A. It only had a couple of HD (up to 1080i) DVI or Component outputs, plus an optical output. This was my first network media player and have been very happy with it's performance. It allows me to stream my content (DVD iso, Photos, Music, Internet Radio), which resides on a 12TB RAID 6 Linux Server (using NFS) from my garage. The content streams through a wireless Network with no shuttering or streaming issues. The beauty of this setup is is mainly in the Movie Jukebox function where I use this program called Movie GUI Builder (formally called TViX GUI Builder) to enhance my GUI interface which allows me to display folders (containing ISO files) as DVD covers. Once you select the DVD cover, there is a overview of the movie, similar to what you see from online movie reviews. I simply press play and off we go. It works flawlessly for me. Friends and family members are simply amazed. I can not provide you with details on all the supported file containers support, but with ISO, it works very well.

Now, in addition to the M-5000A, I also have a PS3, which at this time can not play streamed ISO, which is my preferred format. It does not have the elegant "remote" content playback interface that my TViX box has. I was using Twonky Media Server to stream content to the PS3, which work fine with the very limited content that could be read by the PS3. Both the TViX box and the PS3 can play output files that were recorded on a JVC Standard Definition camcorder, which the file extensions are "mod". They work on both the PS3 and the TViX box. I thought I would be content with using the PS3 and the M-5000A, each device separate locations, but this was not desirable, since the PS3's content playback GUI was no comparison to the TViX box. So I decided to purchase another TViX device.

Recently I obtained a second TViX box from same Canadian vendor (http://www.onlybestrated.com/), the HD M-7000A. This on-line retailer has been great to deal with and are fast and efficient.
As for the the improvements beyond the M-5000A are the ability to handle HD content, as mentioned in your note, plus the HDMI output with works very well. The HDMI interface, reduce the cabling requirements down to 1 from 2, which make my wife happy. No visible cables showing. I do have some HD content created using a SONY HDR-CX7 camcorder that I stream to the M-7000A which will not play on the M-5000A. Prior to buying the M-7000A, I also purchased the T510 ATSC HD Tuner for the M-5000A, which works well on both my TViX boxes. With a HDD installed, I can record HD content over the air, as a plus.

These two TViX boxes are able to provide my family with the ability to view movie content instantly, that reside in a single server. Of course, I still have to ability to move content from the server to a drive internally installed in either of the TViX boxes. Also, the support by this Korean company has been stellar to say the least. They are very responsive to my inquiries.

As for the ability to view rental Movie content, I can use my PS3 with the new movie rental feature recently implement by SONY, but at this time, I have yet to witness a sufficient online movie service that can meet my demands. I'm sure users of other boxes like the AppleTV, can provide in sight from their point of view how good the device addresses their requirements, but these other boxes simply have not been able to meet mine.

I hope this give you some details that help with your journey to find the right device for your needs. This information is to give you a realistic user's point of view.
